50×40 Oil painting on stretched canvas by Luby Thompson.
Lyubov (Luby) Thompson is a friend of mine and a self taught artist who was born and raised in Ukraine. She moved to the states in 1998 where she was able to explore her passion of painting.
This untitled painting was inspired by a friend, Kaspars Lapsa’s photo. The photo was taken in Latvia and is on the coast of the Caspian Sea. Luby asked him if she could make a painting from his photo and he sent her the colored version. He originally showed it in black and white. I have personally seen this painting in person and with its massive size and bright colors it was something I wanted to share.
You can see more of Luby’s art on her Facebook page, artwork by Luby.
